Purpose:

  • The Global Category Manager manages the relationships with IMMI's direct and indirect material suppliers and evaluates how those relationships fit into Supply Chain's short and long term strategies.  This position oversees the supplier performance, pricing, and effects of Category market changes and investigates new opportunities through improved supply chain or new suppliers.

Nature & Scope:

  • A proper relationship with suppliers should be maintained in order to bring in products that consistently meet or exceed IMMI's supplier performance goals.  Ongoing changes with VAT laws, currency changes, Category changes, and code changes require this position to protect the company's assets in an always changing market.  The Global Category Manager typically works closely internally with cross-functional team members on new product development projects.  They also work closely with the quality, engineering, marketing, and finance department to maximize the company's goals while minimizing the internal conflicts.  The Global Category Manager reports to the VP of Global Purchasing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete understanding of global supply base for specified commodities and complete understanding of all the cost drivers in the specific Category
  • Ensure IMMI is using the best total cost supply partners in the marketplace
  • Category strategy creation, company alignment and execution
  • Value management and clean sheet sourcing to generate and implement cost savings
  • Design, implement and train organization on supply chain processes
  • Initiate RFQ's for new product projects or engineering projects and award business per strategy
  • Supplier on time delivery, quality, and PPAP approval metrics
  • Support related cross-functional supply chain activities
  • Experience identifying, evaluating and developing suppliers
  • Special projects/ Adhoc management requests
  • Support buyers and planners for inventory reductions and continuous supply of material
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Purchasing, Engineering, Operations or related field and 5 or more years of purchasing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess highly developed negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with demonstrated results.
  • Preferred: MBA
  • Preferred: CPM and/or CPIM
