The Enterprise Technology Senior Systems Administrator assists the VP of Enterprise Technology to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of in-house technology solutions by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing software and associated operating systems.  The Senior Systems Administrator applies leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of technology solution investments used by IMMI.

Specific Accountabilities

The Senior Systems Administrator assists the VP of Enterprise Technology in monitoring, maintaining, and supporting certain Enterprise Technology systems.  As a result, the Senior Systems Administrator must:

  • Supervise the Data Center Group, providing leadership and mentoring to direct reports.
  • Assist in planning and managing the integration of systems changes into existing systems and software.
  • Liaise with, and provide support to, end users and staff on Enterprise Technology software and equipment 
and other issues, primarily during 8:00am – 5:00pm Help Desk support hours.
  • Provide on-call technical support outside of normal business hours when needed.
  • Work on assigned Help Desk tickets in a courteous manner.
  • Record, track, and document the progress of Help Desk tickets from submission until final resolution.
  • Complete regular system maintenance including software upgrades, server security audits and updates, 
system backups, Windows Server and Windows Client operating system updates and patches.
  • Build relationships with vendor software companies and internal systems staff to complete projects and 
systems maintenance.
  • Problem tracking with infrastructure support vendors.
  • Create and maintain documentation of certain system, support procedures, and user manuals.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
  • Evaluate results of Enterprise Technology projects, then report and make recommendations based on 
findings.
  • Assist in developing standards and processes to support and facilitate Enterprise Technology projects and 
initiatives.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer systems related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in a senior system management and support role.
  • Proven IT managerial experience in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Microsoft Azure server virtualization experience
  • Current certifications in core Infrastructure disciplines (examples: VCP, NetApp SAN, MCITP, MCSE, MCP, CompTIA A+, Server+, etc.).
  • Proven experience managing NetApp SAN (Clustered Data ONTAP).
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing the installation, support and maintenance of Windows Server and Windows client operating systems.
  • Working technical knowledge of Cisco networking standards including subnetting, basic routing & switching, Cisco VPN and TCP/IP.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large VMWare ESXi server virtualization environments.
  • Knowledge of VMWare VCenter performance monitoring & reporting.
  • Knowledge of data center operations including power management, cooling and data center security best practices.
  • Excellent systems troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 


Work Conditions

  • On-call availability outside of normal business hours.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer 
components/peripherals.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for our core Data Center technologies: Active Directory, Windows server infrastructure, NetApp SAN, VMWare ESXi and VCenter, SCCM, Sophos EndPoint Protection, Veeam Backup & Replication, and others.
  • Handle all aspects of daily operations of primary and DR data centers.
  • Responsibility for carrying out the company's backup and recovery plan – oversee success & failure of all server backups and remediate failures as needed.
  • Service as technical lead for day-to-day management of Office 365 Exchange email system, including archiving and Active Sync.
  • Oversee management of network of physical servers at each plant, along with DFS replication and file shares for plant users.
  • Serve as primary SME over Sophos Web Security, implementing the Manager's plan for Internet security.
  • Manage all data center projects, as assigned by the Enterprise Technology Manager.
  • Training and mentoring of a junior Systems Administrator, to ensure adequate coverage and support of critical data center functions.
  • Handle the production and storage of month-end and year-end backup disks, to comply with the Manager's backup and retention plan.
  • Manage Acronis Backup & Recovery 12.0
  • Occasional travel to plants and warehouses for maintenance and special projects.
  • Serve approximately one week a month in the critical after-hours on-call rotation.
